Original Hamilton Cast Members: What They Are Up To Now

Two years ago the hit play Hamilton opened on Broadway and made many of the original cast members stars. Many have been wondering what they have been up to since leaving the play.

The show’s creator, writer and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda who portrayed Alexander Hamilton has been busy. In 2016, Miranda’s wrote songs for the animated film “Moana.” For that effort, Lin earned an Oscar nomination.

In 2018, he will co-star with Emily Blunt in the sequel “Mary Poppins Returns.” Plus, he will serve as the creative producer and song composer for both the film and television versions of “The Kingkiller Chronicle.” Miranda will also receive a Hollywood Walk of Fame star next year.

Leslie Odom Jr. who played Aaron Burr in Hamilton and who won a lead actor Tony has gave several concerts around the nation that includes the Hollywood Bowl last month, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall last December. Odom has not abandoned acting.

This fall, he will portray Dr. Arbuthnot in the remake of “Murder on the Orient Express.” In addition to singing and acting, Leslie is penning a book entitled “Failing Up: How to Rise Above, Do Better, and Never Stop Learning.”

Renée Elise Goldsberry who played Angelica Schuyler and won a featured actress Tony has had a full plate. She played the title role in “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.” The HBO film also starred Oprah Winfrey who also produced the film. Starting on Aug. 21, Goldsberry will lend her voice for the new animated Nickelodeon series for preschoolers “Sunny Day.” In 2018, Renée will have a role in the Netflix series “Altered Carbon.”

Daveed Diggs, who is perhaps the most buzzed about star to come out of Hamilton, and who won a Tony for brilliantly portraying Thomas Jefferson and Marquis de Lafayette, landed recurring roles on ABC’s “black-ish as well as on Netflix’s “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.”

He also starred in the HBO’s comedy film “Tour de Pharmacy.” In November, Diggs will appear in the tearjerker movie “Wonder” that also stars Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson. Plus, he will voice a character in the upcoming animated movie “Ferdinand.” In 2018, Diggs will star in TNT’s highly anticipated adapted television series “Snowpiercer.
