Captain America star Chris Evans slammed Donald Trump for his controversial remarks about gang violence when he addressed a law enforcement event crowd in New York on July 28.
It appeared that Trump was advocating violence against people who are arrested. He told the crowd not to be so nice when they are placing thugs in the back of police cars and to stop protecting their heads with their hands.
Evans took to Twitter to call the President a reckless moron. He went on to say that the commander-in-chief does not have a clue as to what he is endorsing when he makes off the cuff remarks like that.
Apparently, Chris Evans got even more fired up after White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders claimed that Trump was making a joke when he made those comments. Evans tweeted that saying that it was a joke does make it okay or right and that Trump has absolutely no societal awareness or understanding.
It appears that this is not the first time that Chris has called out Donald Trump. In March of this year in an interview for Esquire magazine, he expressed his disgust over Trump winning the presidential election last November.
Evans revealed that he felt deep anger and fury and was in disbelief that Hillary Clinton lost to a man who was once the host of Celebrity Apprentice.
The actor’s Twitter post was met with reactions on both sides, and it seems the Twitter debate will go on for now. Many agree with the actor and some feel that it was obvious Trump was joking.
Regardless of what side they are on, fans will be happy to know that Chris Evans can be seen once again fighting crime in Avengers: Infinity War. It is set to be released next year in May.
